Aloo Paratha Recipe – Stuffed Indian Potato Flatbread

 Aloo Paratha is a popular North Indian stuffed flatbread filled with spicy mashed potatoes and herbs. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with curd, pickle, or butter.













🧂 Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Water (as needed)

  • 1 tsp oil (optional)

For the Stuffing:

  • 3 medium potatoes (boiled and mashed)

  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1/2 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)

  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp amchur (dry mango powder) or lemon juice

  • Salt to taste


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:

    • In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and water. Knead to a soft dough. Rest for 20 minutes.

  2. Prepare the Stuffing:

    • In another bowl, mix mashed potatoes with all stuffing ingredients. Taste and adjust spices.

  3. Assemble Paratha:

    • Divide dough and stuffing into equal balls.

    • Roll a dough ball, place stuffing in the center, seal it like a dumpling.

    • Gently roll it into a flat round paratha.

  4. Cook Paratha:

    • Heat a tawa or pan. Cook the paratha on both sides with ghee or oil until golden and crispy.

  5. Serve Hot:

    • Enjoy with curd, butter, or mango pickle.
