Lasaniya Bataka – Spicy Garlic Potatoes | Kathiyawadi Style
Lasaniya Bataka is a fiery and flavorful Kathiyawadi dish made with baby potatoes and lots of garlic. This rustic and spicy recipe is perfect with bajra rotla or rice.
🧾 Ingredients:

10–12 baby potatoes (boiled & peeled) or 3 regular potatoes (cubed)

2 tbsp oil
-
10–12 garlic cloves (crushed)
-
1 tbsp red chili powder
-
1/2 tsp turmeric
-
1 tsp cumin seeds
-
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
-
Pinch of hing (asafoetida)
-
Salt to taste
-
Water as needed
-
Coriander leaves for garnish
👨🍳 Instructions:

Boil the Potatoes:

Boil and peel potatoes. Keep them whole if small, or cube them.

Prepare Masala Base:

Heat oil in a kadhai. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and hing.

Add crushed garlic and sauté till golden and fragrant.

Add Spices:
-
Add turmeric, chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Cook Potatoes:
-
Add boiled potatoes and stir to coat with masala.

Add a little water and let it cook for 5–7 minutes until flavors blend well.

Garnish & Serve:

Sprinkle fresh coriander and serve hot.

Pair with bajra rotla, buttermilk, and raw onion for a complete Kathiyawadi thali!
